Shutesbury Road Culvert Project Update
July 22, 2022
The culvert enhancement project that will be happening on Shutesbury Road between the Number Six and Old Mountain Road intersections will most likely begin in the last half of August, 2022. The purpose of this project is to replace the current corroding and poorly embedded culvert with a buried natural streambed bottom culvert that will open the connection along the stream for fish and wildlife, help ensure the protection of an environmentally sensitive area, and to improve the safety of Shutesbury road. Another flyer will be posted when concrete dates for construction are known.
Public comments about the Project are accepted at any Selectboard meeting. Please check the website for dates, times and locations (remote option is available) and during project work meetings, which will begin around the second week of august.
The Town plans to redesign the Shutesbury and Cushman Road intersection at the bottom of the hill at the same time when the road is closed for the culvert.
Anyone interested in contacting the Town for more information about the project can reach out to Margie McGinnis, Administrator at 413-548-9699 or email@example.com or Matt Boucher, Highway Superintendent at 413-548-9400 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
This project is funded by the State of Massachusetts through the Municipal Vulnerability Program (MVP) and by the Town of Leverett.
