7:00: Wes Goscenski/ vehicles passing stopped school bus on Rt. 63

Stop Arm Violations on Buses
Audra and Wes Goscenski came in to speak to the board asking for a letter for support for pending legislation for “Stop Arm Violations” on school buses. They have a dash cam and have recorded several violations of on-coming traffic going by buses that are stopped with the stop arms out as children are crossing Rt. 63. They stated that this has been a problem the entire time they’ve had children but seems to have gotten suddenly worse. The police have been notified and have made a public presence, even stopping someone for said violation while following the bus.MOTION, moved by Tom Hankinson, seconded by Melissa Colbert: Motion: To write letter of support for stop arm violations. Vote: 3-0 in favor. .

Field Building Select Board discussion (NO public comment period)
General Discussion...
Eleven people offered to be on an ad-hoc committee to glean ideas for potential uses for the building. The board discussed hiring a professional mediator but decided to let the group choose a chair to lead meetings. The board would the committee to get started right away and have a report ready for the Select Board by December with monthly updates to the board. Tom will draft a charge. Lisa will email the committee the charge and get them started with a first meeting and OML and Ethics sign-offs.MOTION, moved by Tom Hankinson, seconded by Melissa Colbert: Motion: To appoint Kathy Stoddard; Van Stoddard; Rich Nathhorst; Judy Todd; Andy Vlock; Ann Ferguson; Don Robinson; Sara Robinson; Ann Schuyler; Silas Ball; Maureen Ippolito and Kari Ridge to the Field Building Ad-hoc Committee. Vote: 3-0 in favor.

General Discussion...
Margie gave an update on the process for petitioning the state for a reduced speed limit. Matt has installed a “children” and 20 MPH speed limit advisory sign. Melissa told the board that she talked to Richard Knodler, Transportation Specialist at UMASS, about the problem. He offered to take some students to the neighborhood and conduct a study of the area and offer solutions. He expects to have information to Melissa by June 30. The board will revisit the issue at the July 5 meeting.
