  1. Meeting Preliminaries

  2. Appointments

    • 7:00: Ann Ferguson, Ad Hoc Historical Preservation Funding Com?

      General Discussion...
As a follow-up to a Town Meeting discussion about the Field Memorial Library a resident had suggested forming an ad-hoc committee to solicit broader input about the potential uses for the building. Danielle Barshak pitched the idea which was initially Ann Ferguson’s. Danielle envisioned a committee appointed by the board whose charge would be to seek a broad range of suggestions from the community about how they would like to see it used. As a lengthy discussion ensued the participants, including Danielle, agreed that an individual with may also be able to conduct similar research. It was also agreed that some committees with direct involvement should be given a voice (Planning Board, Historical Commission, and Sustainable Economy Committee). A timeline for completing outreach and forum was pitched for pre-ATM 2023. The Select Board will decide at their next meeting what form the idea will take.

    • 7:15: Brian Cook, Shared Fire Services?

      General Discussion...
Brian Cook came in to discuss the idea of shared fire services at the prompting of a resident email. The Town of Shutesbury Fire Chief is retiring at the end of June and the timing could be right for that conversation. Brian (whose Master’s Degree is in Fire Regionalization) outlined the pros (shared equipment and an increase in community services and administrative tasks) with the cons (he doesn’t believe it’s cost effective). Applications for a full-time chief in Shutesbury are due at the end of May. Margie will reach out to Becky Torres, Town Administrator in Shutesbury.
