  1. Meeting Preliminaries

    • - Announcements, Information and log incoming mail.

    • - 1. Avian Flu - Fair has received a letter from FRCOG and will distribute on web-site.

    • - 2. Fair spoke with resident Carol Heim regarding Herbicide by laws in relation to what the Conservation Commission is dealing with.

    • - 3. It was decided that the board will resume in person meeting at the town hall beginning 3/23/2022 remote will remain an option.

    • - 4. Discussed continuing tick testing through UMass Zoological Lab.

    • - 5. Venti circulated a map showing PFAS concentration in North Leverett, he sent the map to Caprice Shaw of MA DEP and the Leverett Board of Health.

    • - Citizens Business: Permits and general questions for the board.

    • Variance Hearing - 1. 7:30 PM Variance Hearing for 62 Shutesbury Road. 1. Pursuant to 218-6.2 a variance is needed to reduce the setback of the soil absorption system from the property line from 25 feet to 17 feet. 2. Pursuant to 218-8.5(a) a variance is needed to allow an increase in the maximum allowable width of the leach field from 12' to 24' 3. Pursuant to 218-6.1 a variance is needed to reduce the setback from the drinking water well from 150 feet as required in highly permeable soils to 100 feet.

      MOTION, moved by John Hillman, seconded by Michael Fair: Motion to grant property line setback from 25' to 17'.

      Pass: Aye: Michael Fair, Nick Venti, Peter Sylvan, John Hillman. Not Present: Mary Ryan.

      MOTION, moved by Nick Venti, seconded by Peter Sylvan: Motion to accept increase width of the leach field from 12' to 24'.

      Pass: Aye: Michael Fair, Nick Venti, Peter Sylvan, John Hillman. Not Present: Mary Ryan.

      Motion passes.

      MOTION, moved by Peter Sylvan, seconded by Michael Fair: Motion to allow well setback reduction from 150' to 100'.

      Pass: Aye: Michael Fair, Nick Venti, Peter Sylvan, John Hillman. Not Present: Mary Ryan.

      Should the well be tested? Board will talk to the Health Agent for his guidance.
      Motion passes.

      MOTION, moved by John Hillman, seconded by Nick Venti: To approve DSCP#2022-02-07a contingent upon receiving $300 fee and a baseline well test if recommended by the Health Agent.

    • - BOH COVID masking at Leverett Elementary School discussion around CDC guidelines. Present (on remote) parent/teacher Amanda Bigwood and parent Michael Lodell. They discussed the impact the masks mandates at school has had on their children. The Board was not ready to vote to lift the mask mandates. A broader discussion with community input is scheduled for our next meeting 3/21/2022.

    • - 2. PFAS - Venti contacted L & F Construction regarding Hannabrook Drive wasn't able to offer much information. More data is needed.

    • - Adjourn and schedule next meeting.

    • - To call in to the remote meeting 1-425-436-6363 access code 133125
