1. Circulation figures for December 2017

   • December - 2737 + 292 overdrive (2016 2666 + 301 overdrive ) open hours

3. Recent Events and Happenings at the library including exhibits

   • - The following groups used the Community Room 1 or more last month for non-library events: Tai Chi, yoga, Qigong, Spanish conversation, home school.

4. Upcoming Events

   • - January/February Photographs by Diane Norman- The World of the Wrangler, Rodeo rider and Their Horses. Jan 18 Lego Club 3:15 Jan 19 movie night -Victoria and Abdul, 7:30pm Jan 20 new beginner Tai Chi class , 11 am Jan 25 and Feb 22 Ukulele nights, 7pm Jan 28 A Day in the Life of a Hotshot Firefighter cosponsored with RGT, 2pm

5. Friends of Leverett Library Report

   • Carolyn Anderson - Current balance $11,922 The Friends recently purchased Museum Memberships to the Eric Carle Musem $125 and Mass MOCA $150, the library's movie license $276, an Honoraium for Dawn Ward $300, a new staff and Friends printer $400.

   • - New mugs to launch at Town Meeting in April. No 'Readit, Leverett!' this year. We will continue with a potluck dinner in conjunction with LCA in May. The dinner will celebrate Ashley as she prepared to leave her position as Library Director and move with her family to Denmark.

   • - Memberships are still arriving and postcard reminders will be sent. There are currently 64 lifetime members and 35 memberships representing 66 people. Leslie Fisette will represent the Friends on the director search committee.

7. Building and Grounds

   • - library inspected, want us to move the ladders out of the electrical room and shovel all exits to the parking lot. Heating issues again with the extreme cold. The lobby was only in the 40s, leaving all doors open until weather back to normal.

   • Building inspection - 2 issues with the inspection ladders needed to move out of electrical room where they were believed to be blocking the panels. John K moved them to 2 new spaces. All exits must be plowed to the parking lot when it snows, John K talked to David Finn about this.

   • Capital planning requests - We need to submit special warrant requests for carpet cleaning -$3000 painting - $10,000

   • Heating system - John K recommends that we ask the town to purchase a small propane heater to be placed in the lobby near the tanks to warm water as it goes into the return, for use only on extremely cold days. Propane tank to be buried.

8. Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners

   • - Action Plan accepted by the MBLC

    • - Library director search committee in place, next steps. Library named in John R Van Steenberg's will, 3 1/3%.

    • new staff computers - The circulation computers are having issues connecting to the internet, time to replace.

      MOTION, moved by Elaine Barker, seconded by Rachel Flint: to expend up to $1000 from state aid budget for two new staff computers. .

      Pass: Aye: Lisa Sullivan-Werner, Rachel Flint, Elaine Barker, Georgie Schmidt, Chris Condit. Not Present: Joan Godsey.
