    • Cemeteries - Cemetery Preservation Campaign/ Research/ Conservation (brief update) - Update: Heard from Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC) regarding National Register designation for seven historic cemeteries submitted by UMASS grad students August 2017? - MHC – Mass. Preservation Project funding (MPPF) re cemetery preservation planning for Chestnut Hill/Mt. Hope? . - Update: Gravestone conservationist Tamara Conde’s assessment of Mt. Hope?

      General Discussion...
Edie presented proposals for conservation of Mt. Hope/ Chestnut Hill and Moore's Corner cemeteries. TaMara Conde bid on both; amounts c. $25,000+/ each. CPC not happy to give more to MC. No questions about Mt. Hope. Edie has contacted two additional conservators for another bid, but has not heard back.

Edie plans to put a blurb in the April newsletter soliciting volunteers for cleaning stones in Moore's Corner during the summer. It is her understanding that most of the work left to do, in addition to a few monuments are footstones.

    • Digital Archives Project - - Baptist Church archives (brief update).

      General Discussion...
The Congregational Council of the North Leverett Baptist Church has approved sending their archival records prior to 1950 to the Boston Public Library for scanning. They will need to make a spreadsheet of what is there before sending.

  3. 2. History related/ Cultural Event possibilities – (SR, EF, SM)

    • Schooling in Leverett - "Education in Leverett- Village Schools to Consolidation" Oral History Project.

      General Discussion...
The "One-room Schoolhouse" Project as people at LES call it, continues to facilitate 6th grade students interviewing Leverett elders who attended one-room school houses in the late 1940's and earlier, before consolidation in teh current school.

Plans for the exhibition at the Library in May/June are beginning to take shape. The project would like to sponsor a luncheon for seniors and students at the school in May to celebrate their collaboration. We hope to have a colloquium at the Library during May or June at which the "experts" (students and seniors will discuss differences between then and now.

    • SHRAB grant - SHRAB grant for activities related to veterans

      General Discussion...
A proposal called the Leverett Veterans' Recognition Project will be submitted to the State Historical Records Board on 1/16/18 to research, plan and design signage for Leverett's 12 historic cemeteries that will recognize the veterans buried there.

  4. 3. Strategic Planning for Historical Assets Survey (AS, SL, SM)

    • ConComm OSP - Additions or corrections to the updated version of "Community, Section B - History".

      General Discussion...
Thanks to Eva, LHC submitted a map and a list of historic sites of interest to be part of the new Open Space Plan. No meetings until Con Com raises more $ to pay Patricia Smith from FRCOG, who is the writer and consultant to the town. It will probably resume in the spring.

    • Historical Assets Survey Questionnaire - HAS Questionnaire - - Strategies for engaging citizens in taking the survey: day @ Library? NL Coop? Door-to-door? Online? at Town Hall? Other?

      General Discussion...
Ann T. will make a new, easier to read flyer. Susanh L will write and Margie will execute "Robo Calls" several times in the next month. Everyone is asked to remind and encourage friends and neighbors to take the survey. Susan L. has gotten more prizes. A reminder is going out with the online Friday Post to all LES families as well. SL will attend Congregational Church to ask for participation. SM to contact MC Church and Mt. Toby. Question about whether a press release is right way to communicate, since it is only for Leverett residents. The Town Website is promoting it. Hard copies at Library and Town Hall. House calls are offered.
